Bible Study 1
Is The Bible Trustworthy?
How much of the Bible is inspired?
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16
How does God speak to the prophets?
"For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
2 Peter 1:21
What three parts of the Old Testament Scripture
did Jesus refer to in His teachings?
"And he said unto them, 'These are the words which I spake
unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled,
which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets,
and in the psalms, concerning me.' Then opened he their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures." Luke 24:44,
45
Note: When Jesus referred to the Scriptures,
He was referring to the Old Testament, since the New Testament
was not yet written.
According to Jesus, to Whom does the Old Testament
refer?
"Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me." John 5:39
"Then he said unto them, 'O fools and slow of heart to believe
all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered
these things, and to enter into his glory?' And beginning at
Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the
scriptures the things concerning himself." Luke 24:25-27
Why are the experiences of men and women
recorded in the Bible?
"Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and
they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the
world are come." 1 Corinthians 10:11
Why were the New Testament experiences
of Jesus recorded?
"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have
life through his name." John 20:31
What can be the result of Bible study?
"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith
which is in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 3:15
What are the benefits of Scripture?
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly
furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16, 17
According to Jesus, where do people find
truth?
"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
John 17:17
What mistake did the Sadducees (a sect
of the Jews) make concerning the Scriptures?
"Jesus answered and said unto them, 'Ye do err, not knowing
the scriptures, nor the power of God.'" Matthew 22:29
Why can't people, in their sinful nature,
understand spiritual things?
"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but
the spirit which is of God: that we might know the things that
are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not
in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy
Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But
the natural man receiveth not the things of the spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned." 1 Corinthians 2:12-14
Who only can guide us into all truth?
"Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself;
but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will
show you things to come." John 16:13
Why should we study the Bible?
"Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that
needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15
How often should we study and search the
Bible?
"These (Christians in Berea) were more noble than those
in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness
of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things
were so." Acts 17:11
Thought Promises:
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
Psalm 119:105
"Thy word have I hid my heart, that I might not sin against
thee." Psalm 119:11
