Jesus Will Come Again!

Under oath, what declaration did Jesus make to the High Priest at His trial?
"Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven."
Matthew 26:64

Why will Jesus return?
"I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."
John 14:1-3

Is there another reason for His second coming?

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he shall reward every man according to his works."

"And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be."

His Coming Will Be Literal!

According to heavenly angels, how will Christ return to this earth?
"And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they (the disciples) looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel. Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
Acts 1:9-11

His Coming Will Be Visible!

Everyone living at the time of Jesus' return will see Him coming:

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen."
Revelation 1:7

"And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"
Revelation 6:15-17

His Coming Will Be Audible!

What triumphal sounds shake the earth as Jesus comes?
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first."
1 Thessalonians 4:16

How does Peter describe the deafening sound of that momentous day when Jesus returns?
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

Immediate, Dramatic Changes Will Occur At His Coming!

What thrilling change takes place as Christ returns?
"Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed."
1 Corinthians 15:51, 52

What instruction will Jesus give to the angels when He appears?
"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."
Matthew 24:30, 31

What happens to the living, righteous saints when Christ appears?
"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."

To what can we compare the glory and brightness of Christ's coming?
"For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."
Matthew 24:27

Whose glory will add to the splendor of Christ at His second coming?
"For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's and of the holy angels."
Luke 9:26

A Warning Of Counterfeit Christs!

What specific warning did Jesus give so His followers would not be deceived?

"Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."
Matthew 24:26, 27

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect."

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."

Why should we be always ready for Jesus' return?

"Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."

"And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always."
